There are only two FM churches in Amman, the capital of Jordan. Because the Church in general is relatively weak in the country of Jordan, these two FM congregations are among the most vibrant and healthy churches in the whole country, and have tremendous potential. The first church, started in 2002-03, is made up of over 100 people who are mostly Iraqi refugees. The second, which began in 2006, is home to a congregation of over 100 Jordanians, as well as some Iraqi refugees. Both congregations are spiritually vibrant and passionate about reaching out, but need to become more mature and learn to raise up leaders. The development of a viable small business will also help both become more financially independent.
Our area director for the region, Pastor B.W., has been praying for a church of influence and effectiveness in the U.S. to come forward and adopt this work in Jordan. He would be delighted to work with a partnering congregation, and could help them, from a cultural and missiological perspective, develop and implement a strategic plan to advance these churches. Pastor Dustin will also be able to work with the vision plan and see that the steps are followed and implemented in Amman.
