A Voyager is a person on a journey with a specific objective in mind. For some, it's a journey to further clarify God's calling on their life in terms of cross-cultural ministry. For others, it's primarily a journey of "being available" ... of having the skill set to match an expressed need, and, in faith, simply giving of one's time and abilities to serve.

No matter the precise reason for serving, the specific objective of all VISA Voyagers is to make Christ known to the nations. Though there are few limits on where a Voyager may go and how they may minister, typical assignments include teaching English (ESL), medical ministry, assisting missionaries, children's ministries, pastor training, church planting, leadership development, missionary kid education, bookeeping, and administrative help.

When short-term missions is done well, it does not compete with extended-term missionary service, it complements it. When Voyagers sense that God may be directing them into career service, Mobilization leaders can work with them to explore and move into an extended-term assignment. We work to make the transition as seamless as possible.

VISA Voyager assignments range from six months to two years, with possibility for extension. All Voyagers create a budget for ministry and raise their own support. VISA workers are volunteers and not employees of Free Methodist World Missions.
