Global Studies Intensive (GSI)
GSI is a creative, multicultural, multigenerational education program designed for people interested in the complexities of cross-cultural ministry with a distinctly Free Methodist focus. It's geared for people who like to experience what they’re taught and is designed to bring together North Americans and emerging mission leaders from around the world.
GSI is intended to stimulate thinking, both in and out of the classroom, and help participants better understand God’s heart for people with little or no knowledge of His existence. The program features open and informative discussions on how to minister to people in this context.
This two to three-week course sets the stage for continued learning with in-depth introductions to the theology of missions, culture, strategy, Free Methodist history, and exposure to various ministries. In the past, GSI has been offered in several countries, including Brazil, Egypt and Cambodia.
Over 200 individuals from 24 countries have attended GSI since its inception in 2000. It has been hosted in Thailand, Brazil, India, Egypt and Cambodia. Don’t miss out on this fantastic learning experience that only comes around every two or three years.
The next GSI is tentatively planned for January 2011 and will most likely take place in Africa. GSI participants must be college-age or older with good oral English comprehension skills.
