A VISA Team is a cooperatively functioning group of people with the common goal of surrendering personal agendas for the good of the mission. Team members not only go to serve, but also to build relationships with brothers and sisters in Christ abroad, for mutual benefit and encouragement.

Teams are sponsored and sent by Free Methodist churches, conferences and universities and normally consist of eight to 12 members. There are many types of team ministry, the most common being construction projects, English and sports camps, vacation Bible schools, prayer journeys, agricultural work, church planting and medical ministry.

A team experience is usually 10 to 15 days in length, with team members volunteering their time and resources in order to participate. Funds for the necessary ministry materials are raised and donated by the sponsoring group. We normally ask a sponsor to plan for an investment of at least $5,000 for ministry costs plus travel expenses. Fund raising for the team project provides an opportunity for the entire sending body to get behind the project and take ownership of it.

VISA advocates a professional approach to missions and subscribes to the highest standards for cross-cultural ministry. VISA is the nuts and bolts behind teams done well, and our checks and balances ensure that when a sponsor adopts a team project, they are fulfilling a well-thought-out ministry need and that the project is a priority for the national church and mission as well.
